The concept car of the new Proton Emas was launched at the Geneva International Motor Show by Proton adviser Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. Emas short for (Eco Mobility Advance Solution) is expected to put Proton on the map as a global car manufacturer. This is a huge step for Proton as it has only focused solely on the local market.
The car, showed in three variants, was designed by acclaimed Italian design house Italdesign Giugiaro. When asked about the concept of their design, the co-chairman of the design house, Fabrizio Giugiaro says that "This is a car for today, with a design for tomorrow,".
Dr. Mahathir has asked the people of Proton to speed up their productions but Proton Group managing director Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir, said that they need between 17-24 months to get the car into production. The car is expected to come out in 2012.
The car looks exceptionally good. It has a futuristic look that is different than the other mobiles currently on the market. I am certain that many would want to own an Emas. A job well done to Proton and Dr. Mahathir.
